SOUTHFIRST is proud to present "Disque Optophonique," an installation of three new light sculptures by Christian Sampson. The work plays on the synesthetic experiences and sensory possibilities of color, taking the color organ as model for the relation between the senses. The show features collaborations with artists and musicians Cy Amundson, Erik den Breejen and Tania Cross and will be on view from 19 July - 28 July.

 

Christian Sampson received a B.F.A from Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL. and an M.F.A from Hunter College in New York City in 2006. He participated in the Paris Nouveau Festival 3, at the Centre Pompidou in the exhibition ÒLes Mysteres de lÕOuest.Ó curated by Pascal Rousseau and Bernard Blistene. In 2013, he was included in ÒGeometrie Variable" curated by Baron Osuna at Le Parc du Domaine Les Crayeres in Reims, France. He lives and works in Ridgewood, NY.

 

SOUTHFIRST, founded in 2000, is located at 60 N6th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn between Wythe and Kent Avenues. Gallery hours are Fri., Sat. and Sun. from 1 - 6 PM and by appointment.
