8 August - 6 September, 2013

Opening BBQ Wednesday, August 7, 5-8 PM

A catalogue, Hello From Gate City, produced by UNC Greensboro with an essay by Harry Swartz-Turfle will accompany the exhibition.

"On Tate Street in Greensboro, North Carolina sits a small two-lane underpass, unremarkable unless you look closely. The underpass allows access under train tracks to the railroads that helped give the town its nickname 'Gate City.'

The tracks form their own space but also separate two very different neighborhoods: on one side, College Hill, a charming historic neighborhood with Queen Anne homes and the Weatherspoon Art Museum, which houses a large collection of Matisse and one of de Kooning's Women; the other side, a vacant mini-mart, a quick-burger joint, and a car rim shop that was an Asian massage parlor before it got busted."

                                                                                                                                                                                    — Harry Swartz-Turfle, "Passing Through" 2013
